New York, the city that never sleeps.

Dernière mise à jour : 27 oct. 2019

A few lines and pictures about my trip to NY in March 2018.

It was as if we were on a different planet. When we arrived, we couldn’t stop looking up to the skyscrapers since they were dominated us, in the same way moutains do. In this city, you know what being « infinitely small in the infinitely big » means. It is not scary or dreadful : it is striking. Being on the rooftops is such a great experience, you can catch the entire city thanks to an overview and you become aware of the immensity of the buildings.

New York is not only high or huge. It is is also fast : you must stay sharp. The funniest thing is that the Newyorkers walk as fast as the cars ; always in a hurry, late for work, but never without their starbuck coffee. I thought this was a stereotype cultivated by movies or books, but it’s a reality. Is it the case for the others big cities?

Despite the monstrouous crowd, it’s quiet easy to find your way in the city as every streets or avenues are symmetrical. Moreover the subway is simple to take, to the extent that you don’t need a map to go from a point A to a point B or to join the other side of Manhattan.

We went to typical-tourist-places such as Time Square, Ellis Island, Brooklyn Bridge, the Museum of Natural History, Central Park and so on. The clichés. But it was beautiful. My favorite moment was when, after crossing Brooklyn Bridge, we walked a bit in China Town. Then we found ourselves in Litlle Italy and we lunched in a small restaurant. There, I ate the most delicious Mushroom Ravioli with Garlic Bread. I can honestly still feel the taste. This memory is certainly in my best ones (I’ve always loved eating great food).

Time Square is awesome at night ; all the colours and lights captivate the eyes, in such a way that you can even forget that it’s actually dark outwards. Many people show their creativity and their talents in the street : music, painting, dance and so much else – Day and Night - New York never sleeps, but do we want to go to bed when we’re in the Empire city ?
